Waynesboro Va is an independent city, centrally located in Virginia, surrounded by Augusta County, in the eastern portion of the scenic and historic Shenandoah Valley. It is situated at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains.Waynesboro Va is just 23 miles west of Charlottesville. Staunton Va is known as the "Queen City of the Shenandoah Valley," . Staunton is an independent city located within the confines of Augusta County, Virginia. It is the county seat of Augusta County. Staunton is just 33 miles west of Charlottesville, 103 miles northwest of the state capital of Richmond and 121 miles southwest of the nation's capital, Washington DC. Staunton’s central location on the East Coast allows for short travel times to majors cities. Philadelphia, Boston and New York are short flights form the Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport. I-81 and I-64 connect Staunton and Lexington. Geography Staunton covers an area of 19.7 square miles, and none of the area is covered with water. It sits at an altitude of 1,640 feet. Staunton is located in the Shenandoah Valley, which has the Blue Ridge Mountains to the east and the Allegheny Mountains, including the Great North Mountain, to the west. This is one of the most scenic valleys in the United States, with elevations ranging from 1,050 feet to 1,800 feet above sea level. The Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive, and the Appalachian Trail are all a short distance from Staunton. Stuarts Draft is a small, charming town located in Virginia, also surrounded by Augusta County. Draft probably refers to the document drafting the land sale or is a reference to the river itself (draft is an old term for river or creek and is part of the name of several such in the area). The plain on the south side of the river tends to channel the wind, thus forming a rather constant, gentle breeze or "draft."
